If the air coming out the vents doesn't get cooler when switched on, either the AC isn't working or you've got the heater switched on.
If the gas is low it's probably not working, open the bonnet and have look at the compressor pulley if you can the outter pulley should spin if it's working if you can't see the compressor touch the a/c pipes (mind your hands) one should be warm/hot and one should be cold/frosty if not it doesn't work, get it re-gassed and make sure they add uv dye and go from there
Thanks guys, will have a look in a bit.
Easy way to test.
Wet your finger and hold it in front of the vent, if it feels cold, its probably working........
Is your aircon working?
If you're driving a Vec C then probably not.
lol that bad then?? lol
I've given up with my aircon after today. Despite being a fairly new (2008) car it looks like it can't be fixed!
In the last 4 months its been regassed 5 times and filled with dye. In about 2 weeks all the gas is gone and the aircon doesn't even switch on (although you can feel it becoming less effective about 3-4 days after the regas)
1 garage has had 5 attempts at finding a leak and gave up, passing it to a Vx dealer who have also regassed it and found no leak. I can't be bothered to find another aircon place but its spent 10 days in garages in the last 4 months!
So aircon is a bit of a sore point with me right now
Chances are it is your condenser, common for going on the Vectra and sigbums as they are right at the front and stones go through the lower grill and damage it causing it to leak. I replaced mine for £100 roughly from a site plasma recommended, got it rehashed after I fitted the new rad and it's been good as gold since, extremely cold 1 thing I'd recommend if you do change it yourself, get some black honeycomb mesh from eBay (about £10-£15 roughly) then cut it to the shape of the lower grill and first behind the grill using sikaflex and cable ties isn't visible at all unless you crouch down and get close to the bumper and it saves stones from getting through to the new rad
