    confused Air Con Pulley

I have been wondering for a couple of weeks now if my air con worked or not and i have come to the conclusion it doesnt, i was under the bonnet today and noticed the air con pulley or what ever it is isnt turning when the car is running i would say this is not normal and surely cant be doing the belt any good anyone any ideas tried to turn by hand and the middle bit spind freely but the actual pulley wont budge
    any help appreciated

I beleive the compressors have a clutch on them, so they only engage when the air con is switched on.

Easy, removed aux belt, disconnect the wiring and unbolt the compressor.

ignore that removal advise, that refers to mine where i have already disconnected the aircon system. You will need to go to an aircon place with your new compressor and have them swap it for you as they need to dispose of the chemicals/gases properly and then refill it afterwards.
