    Default More AC Woes...

To add to the list of people with AC issues recently.

After driving for 6 hours without any problem I switched the AC off as was loosing the feeling in my feet. When I switched back on... warm air

Cannot see any holes in the condenser although its not getting hot, all seems to kick in when pressing the button (noise, revs go up etc).

A little peeved, as on the M25 in 30 degrees with no air con was slightly uncomfortable.

Thankfully car is under warranty as only had for about 4 weeks now...

I have the little button with the snowflake, is this the only control for the AC or is there a software controller for it?

    Oh, fuses seem fine.

You'll have a leak somewhere then, me too. I've not had time to investigate it but if it's not run often enough, the seals can dry and leak. I'll be getting mine to the refigeration workshop at work when I can. They can vac it down and charge with nitrogen to carry out a leak check, then if it's tight, recharge. Otherwise it's fix the leak, and retest it before charging.
Good job yours is under warranty!!

Just had the system pressure tested - all fine, looks like the compressor is duff

Go to go through the warranty provider - not really something I can complain about the garage I bought from as was working fine when I got it.

Does anyone know potential "silly" problems that can cause it not to work? Would prefer to have a play tomorrow and just have her fixed.

    Cheers

Yarp, just got her back from a re-gas. They let me know the compressor isn't engaging so wanted to know if there is a relay prone to failure or similar. It's the 2.0T and am trying to find the relay / fuse map for it...

Took her into an AC specialist. Going to be a new compressor and clutch. They are also going to try to get the pipework replaced as there are several dry joints...

Hopefully will be covered by the warranty...

I was under the impression that ac was not covered on the warranty. When I tried to get mine done I was told that it wasn't covered.

It depends what the fault is and it should under the manufacturer's warranty as it it 'mechanical' and not 'trim'
also,.. my Warranty Direct covers the AC system.
