Default Another Limp Home Mode Thread

    Another one of these.

Was driving my 2.2 Dti Signum Design 2004 and when I booted up to around 3000 revs, it went into limp home mode, turned the key back and forward and it went until I did it again so any ideas?

I'm guessing EGR or carbon build up around it or Mass airflow sensor.

Can't hear any chattering so i'm guessing that it's not turbo related.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Will be cleaning up the airflow sensor with WD40 and cleaning the inlet and EGR with carb cleaner and hoping for the best really.

    Thanks,

    Andy

That'll be sure to **** it up. wd40 leaves a sticky oily residue behind that will throw the sensor right out. You need to use electrical contact cleaner such as IPA. Halfords do one in a can with a green lid.

    This is safe :- http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_255223

    Would carb cleaner not do?

Saw some vids on YouTube where they used that.

Cleaned the egr, inlet, throttle body, inlet etc... And the car runs soooo much better but still the problem persists.

Tomorrow I'll get the five star torx security bolts to take the MAF off and try that.

Checked all hoses too but if the MAF cleaning doesn't work, what else could it be?

    Thanks,

    Andy

Clean the boost sensor located under plastic engine cover where the hose goes to throtle body. Held in with e10. And replace all vac lines as both these things have fixed several different faults with the dti engine. You can remove boost sensor with 8mm spanner if u don't have any torx tools

i have the same problem as the op so far i have cleaned the egr vale and inlet manifold (it was absolutley caked with black crude)but still goes into limp mode at around 3000 revs .i asume the next step is the boost sensor when i work out where it is.

Are you able to find another member with a diagnostic tool locally to get your codes read? Would be good to know which component the car thinks is failing.
