Default Where's all my oil gone?

Just checked my dip stick. Nothing. Clean as a whistle. I put in 2 litres i had left over from the service 10 months ago and i'm back up to normal. I checked the oil level every 2 weeks for about 3 months after i did the service as i'm not that confident on my work. All seemed fine, no loss. I was horrified to find i'd lost so much in the last 7 months.

I park in exactly the same place every day and there are no oil spots on the floor. I have however noticed a lot of turbo Woosh under hard acceleration similar to the woosh when the intercooler went on my old vec but i can't see and oil vapour marks in the usual places. Help on ideas if you please.

How many miles have you covered since last check?
Vaux say that 1l of oil per 1k of use is normal amount of oil consumption

Yes mate it's probably their get out clause for their Friday afternoon engines lol

if I where you I'd do oil an filter change ASAP an then monitor the usage over time/ mileage to see how much your actually chewing up.

Is the engine on high mileage? As might be worth moving to a thicker oil to compensate for any wear an their fore reduce the amount of oil consumed.

Not really high, just coming up to 80k. Thinking about getting the timing belt changed but in the meantime Paul has offered to help out with a little bit of an engine clean up/ investigation to check hoses and gaskets etc. Incidentally, i'm not having any unusual smoke either.

Worth having a check mate. But of you've not seen any leaks then I'd say it's getting eaten.

Sometimes the cat does a good job a hiding any tell take signs.

If you have a compression tester you could perform a dry and wet test.
