    Default TomTom XL IQ Help

Wife went to use her tt but it would not turn on. Fully charged it for her a couple of days ago. When connected to the mains the power light flashes green. Have connected it to the pc to update and it comes up with the following message

ERROR: HomeBase/IO: Error writing file: E:\helpme\other\travelinfo\images\austria_intro2.j pg

When trying to restore to an earlier back up it just sits doing nothing about 10% of the way through.

Am not prepared to pay tt £85 to repair as I can get a new one for a few quid more.

    Any ideas ?

You could ask on the TomTom forum (it's not run by TomTom) they're normally pretty good. Link is HERE
At least that way you'd get specialist advice. I know what you mean about repair cost though, at £85 it's just not worth it. I'm pretty much the same with map updates too, you can almost buy a new satnav for the price of a yearly update.

Hope you get it sorted, sorry I can't be more specific with help but I'm not an expert on these by any means!

Cheers bindex. Annoying thing is it is only 3 years old and she has only used it about 4 times. I do update the software at least every 6 months too.

Left it on overnight and it eventually restored. Thanks to bindex link and advice from there it seems the internal battery may need changing. A job when I get back off holiday.
