Default Hi from 'Hue' of Hampshire

Hi. I enlisted here about 2 months ago, around the time I bought a 2008MY Vectra 1.8VVT SRi Estate and so thought it was time I said hello.
In all my 40 odd years of motoring (yes, I'm that old!) this is my first Vauxhall. I've done 3000 miles since I bought it in May with 18000 on the clock and so far it's been as good as gold and very enjoyable to drive. I hadn't really considered a Vectra until my son bought one. His is a 1.9 CDTi 150 hatchback. He seems happy with it but I wanted a petrol engine, probably because I'm an old git who is reluctant to change with the times, and still considers diesel engines to be dirty, noisy, smelly, smokey and expensive to fix. Like the tractors and Series II Land Rovers on the farm I grew up on. Anyway, after looking into it I was quite surprised how much car you get for your money when compared to say a Mondeo, which seemed a lot more expensive for the same sort of spec.
I know many consider the 1.8 to be underpowered but I can't say I've found it too bad in that respect, although admittedly I haven't tried going up many steep hills fully laden. The space in the back of the estate is enormous, even more so with the back seats folded.
My only quibbles so far, both minor, are the indicators, which I feel have a tendency to self cancel a bit too readily, and the radio which always switches on with the ignition, regardless of whether it was on or off when you turned the ignition off. Yes I know there's another setting whereby the radio switches on and off independently of the ignition, but then I keep forgetting to switch it off when I leave the car! Still, I suppose if that's all I can find to moan about it can't be that bad can it?
I've included a couple of pics below in order to avoid the "this thread is useless without pics" comments, even though the car is in standard, SRi trim with no embellishments. My boy-racer days are long gone but I still admire a nicely modded motor like some I’ve seen on this site. I particularly like the blue estate I've seen on here somewhere.

Well, that’s probably enough of my prattling for now!

    Hue
