    Default Swirl bar problem

Noticed the swirl bar has came off the vectra (1.9 cdti 150) The previous owner had the revised manifold put on. As far as I can gather i have 3 options

    1) Do a DIY repair
    2) Get it replaced/repaired professionally
    3) Drive it into a river

Do you think it would be wise to try a DIY fix first or wll it
Need replaced professionally at some point anyway?

Cheapest and quickest is to attempt to glue the swirl flaps open. Some have re-attached the bar with a few mods, but I've no idea how successful this has been. I eventually got the manifold and swirls replaced on my car and may now blank the EGR to prevent the gunk building up inside the manifold destroying the swirls again.

As long as the egr is blanked the manifold will be fine

As Tony said... bonding them open & unplugging the egr is the best option, mine has been good for over 20k bonded & i just plug the egr back in for the mot.

Whats the best way of cleaning/prepping that area around those swirl valves and what would be the best glue to use?

Carb cleaner to clean the area. I used evostick liquid metal to bond mine :-)
