Question Heater Blower Motor - Bearing Replacement

    Hi all,

For a while now I have been getting a noise from the heater blower motor which sounds just like the bearings have gone.

Have removed the motor this evening to see if I can remove the bearings but can't seem to get the fan part off the motor:

Anyone help with how to detach the fan from the motor as don't want to pull it too much if it should unscrew etc?

Also, can anyone suggest where I might be able to get replacement bearings or, at worse, a replacement motor?

    Thanks.
    Pete.

I don't think you can repair them. Have you sprayed wd40 on it?

Only after I removed the unit did I realise I had run out of WD40 Will give that a go tomorrow. Was just wondering if anyone else had fixed one of these as seems such a waste of the part and money to spend £130+ on a whole new unit when it seems just a small part it bust!

If the fan is stiff you can blow the resistor.

That's already happened once but before it started making the noise. Want to get it sorted so I don't have to pay out for another resistor.

I would be a bit wary of using WD40 - its fine while it is fresh but I find after a few days it tends to dry out and turns into a lacquer - exactly what its lubrication is like when it gets to this state I don't know. I would be tempted to use one of the spray type greases you can get with the long extension spay tube to get access inside

thats the only problem with wd40, it works wonders, but once it evaporates noises start to return, but id never be without a can of wd40 - love the smell lol.

Yea I must admit I like the smell of it so if you spray it in your heater fan - you will have that smell for weeks lol - its good as a freeing / releasing oil but as you say the it evaporates after a while and leaves a residue.
