    Default z20net remap

After seeing the good reviews on here, I Had my car re mapped today by Midland Remaps and I'm very happy with the way the car drives. Its the best £189 I've spent on a car! Great customer service too.

if your car feels standard after a re-map because of the fuel in it pal , i'd take it back ! my vxr goes like hell no matter wether i use super unleaded or not lol

I have a BSR remap and if I use sainsburys regular unleaded she feels sluggish. Sains 'super' and is a dramatic improvement. Shell ultimate..different car..

Is this the VXR you've never shown any photos of?

Anyway, you're ignoring the fact that the OP's engine has a knock sensor - the ECU will try and advance the timing until the engine starts knocking, and higher octane fuels will resist knocking better, so the timing gets advanced further and the car goes even faster. If your "VXR" doesn't go any faster with high octane fuel in it, take it to Vauxhall for a diagnostic check.

When I spoke with Frederick (the main man from Maptun) when I met up with him at Snetterton at Neo Brothers invite some time ago he advised me that they tune all the Maptun maps for 95 ron fuel and not higher.

Of course, me being me, I didn't believe a word of it and carried on running mine on 99 ron thinking it had to be better and kept getting lower results than I was expecting on rolling road days (although the car felt good to drive). Out of morbid curiosity, for the last rolling road day I ran 95 ron fuel for a couple of weeks before and for the day itself and the car ran the most power it's ever done and by quite some margin.

Now, I don't know if this is a placebo effect, but the rolling road figures certainly don't lie (although I can't guarantee there wasn't other differences between some of those days of course, I certainly had a small boost leak on one of them). However I've not run my car on anything other than 95 ron fuel ever since and the car feels noticeably pokier and more responsive than it used to as well.

That and it saves me a couple of quid every time I fill up
