    confused vectra c drag link end ball joint

    can any body help just had an advisory for the n/s inner (rack) drag link end ball joint has slight play . never heard of one and dont know where it is. i know where the drop links are but not these drag links so i need some help any ideas anyone ? thanks

    I too had the same advisery last year. They are basically the end of the track rod arms, with the ball joint relating to the part that connects the track arm to the hub and subsequently moves your wheel left and right. Easily identified by the threaded bar pertruding to your wheel from the steering rack, with the ball joint visible on the wheel end.
    Should be relatively cheap to replace, however I havent had them done as of yet.

    well how weird is that i had my mot test in march

    and came back with an advisory nearside drag link end ball joint has slight play 2.2.b.1f

    any ideas where these are mate need to change the n/s one are they the same as track rod ends ????? never heard of them before mate thanks kev !

    Drag link on a car? Never heard that someone needs to learn their steering parts

    I can only assume it refers to track rod end

    so why didnt the mot tester put n/s track rod end on the advisory so i knew what it was instead of 003 nearside inner (rack) drag link end ball joint has slight play [2.2.b1f] trying to confuse people like that ?

    By the sounds of it it's actually the track rod not the ends, I've always known them as rack ends, it's the inner ball joint where it connects to the steering rack that has play.
    Can be a simple fix if you have the correct tools for the job and are able to track the car up afterwards

    hope it isnt the inner ball joint on the tie rod they are a nightmare to change done the o/s one last year a real pain in the arse to do might book it in at the garage and let them do it !
