Default Job done this weekend ( pic heavy )

Well it's been coming for a while, just had to wait for all the various parts to arrive.

    Fit:-
    Angel Eyes
    Front Parking Sensors
    DRL's
    Fog Light Mod
Top Grille ( to SRI )
Lower Grille ( to SRI )

1st things first get car up on stands and get bumper off.
    Strip out the old lights.
Get all the cabling in place, including the wiring harness that turns off the DRL's when main beams come on.
Cable up the 2x relays I used. The angel eyes / drl's & fog mods are run from a relay switched using sidelight feed, this is to stop strobing. Need to fit a resistor across the sidelight feed now tho to stop canbus error ( job for later )

Parking sensors are on another relay switched using the full beam ( going to find a timed relay later so that the full beam triggers it for a set amount of time ) Got a slight problem with it at the moment that should be an easy fix, when the engines off 11.9v the sensors work as they should, when engines started 13.9v the sensor beeps constant, so will find a resistor to cut the voltage down later. ( even fit a switch in the cabin, but again I think there will be a volt issue to tackle.

Didn't get the grilles fitted :-( bottom one doesn't fit, doh!, top one felt like it was going to break, if anyones local and done it before I wouldn't mind some advice.

Not 100% happy with them, not as bright as I wanted, but hell, they were a fiver, however the cabling and harness is in place now, so if I find any better ones later won't be a big deal to change them.

    Looks great!

Forgive the noobishness of this question, but how did you wire up the DRLs to the sidelights and did you have to make any mods to stop errors?

I'm handy with a spanner but not so much with electrical stuff!

    Thanks
    Stuart

No worries mate, the I've hooked up the DRL's to an auto off wiring harness, the harness is hooked up to a battery feed through a relay, the relay is switched using the sidelight feed and the off switch on the auto harness is triggered by the main beam feed.

There is an issue with the LEDS ( both DRL and Angel eyes ) causing a fault on the canbus, so to avoid strobing I've used the above method and will have to stick a resistor across the original sidelight feed.

I've cut the cables inside the light fitting and connected to these. I was always going to get 1 of two problems, either the strobing or the canbus error, so I've chosen the canbus error and wil sort it later with the right resistor.

    So in short.

Perm battery feed to the relay.
Side light switch feed to relay ( to trigger the relay ) lights ON
Main beam feed goes to the "OFF" trigger on the auto harness. ( spurred feed )
Angel eyes connected to the same outgoing switched feed as the harness but NOT through the harness so that the Angel eyes stay on even with main beam.

The reason for the harness is that the regs say DRL's should go off when main beam is on. ( the foglight mod is also hooked upto the harness so both DRL's and fogs go off together.

Hope this helps, if not let me know and I'll do a hand drawing for you and send it.

    PS
The DRL's aren't bright enough for me, I want "AUDI" strength lighting, but I'll try another set later, that will be easy now the wiring and switching is in place.
