Brake Pipes

Just fitted the brake pipe over the fuel tank, 1.9cdti 56, what are the MOT rules on this. The made up pipe I bought was a bit long. I had to bend it a couple of times in the wheel arch to lose the extra before joining the flexi pipe. Its a neat enough looking job and works fine but someone at work says that the pipe should be retained at specific intervals wih retaining clips.

Aslong as its secure, doesn't leak and interfere with any moving parts it'll be ok
