Default ODB2 Reader - Have searched this forum for answers extensively

Hi, This is my first post here. Sorry in advance for asking a repetitive question as my first post. After searching on here I purchased a U380 from ebay to read the error codes on my car, ('04 Vectra 2.2 Petrol). The unit initially said it had a linking error and then after a few more attempts the unit broke, (the seller has refunded me).

My car has only buttons on the wheel, no scrollers which I believe now means it could be ODB1?

Can anyone here recommend a solution for reading my codes?

I have also tried the method of pressing down both accelerator and brake pedal and then turning on the ignition to read the codes and this did not work.

    Many Thanks

If your car is petrol and later than 2002 (2004 for diesel) then it's EOBD (not OBD as that's for outside Europe) compliant as that's the law. You are looking for an EOBD fault code reader because we're in Europe. Having said that, there might be an issue with the U380 in that it isn't also CAN compliant (unless it was just a faulty one)...

Other than EOBD and CAN compatibility, then it's what brand you want and how much you want to pay for the features you want. This is a genuine Autel one that's EOBD and CAN compliant and not too expensive...

What is the fault with your car? As it could be a power/ ground issue on diagnostic port / ecu or could be that Meyer was actually faulty

Sounds more like a fault with something other than the diagnostic port itself then.

Do you plan to get another fault code reader or to take the code to a garage/mobile car electrician?
