    Default Battery light on!!!

    I take it is the alternator so what do i expect to pay to buy one and have it fitted.The car is 06 cdti 150 with 20,000 miles which makes me so cross.

    Could be the battery is knackered so don't jump to the expensive fault first. Otherwise you will be paying for a new battery and alternator.

    If the alternator is going, the voltage across the battery will be under 14V when you connect a multimeter across it. Also when my alternator went the radio started playing up, then a steering wheel with an exclamation mark came up on the dash. This was shortly followed by the engine sitting at 1,500rpm. I'm not saying it's not the alternator, but just to check the cheaper of the faults first.

    20,623 miles but the car is nearly 6 yrs old well thats what vauxhall would say

    The car just did not feel right when driving so stopped and switched her off.When i started her again the light went off then the car drove normal again i think but 3mins later the light was back on.Parked her up in my garage and rang a mate so i go see him in the morning.Just makes me cross that car is so low milage and i treat the car like one of my children lol!!!

    Even though the OE warranty has expired, the car is still covered up to 6 years (excluding Scotland which is 5 years)
    This is an incredibly low mileage and so I would be haggling hard for a contribution towards any and all costs for such a car

    Started the car there and she is ticking over far to high.Is this a sympton of the alternator on its way out?
