    Default guide for changing top mounts

    I found it once before and need to print it off to do the job

    Spent the last 20 mins on search but cant actually find the guide with photos someone put on

    Anyone know where it is?

    Vehicle : Mk1 renault scenic... I know I know but it drives

    Trim : Basic

    Engine : 1.6 16v

    Year : 2003

    Not a clue where it is but basically jack up and support car
    remove wheels
    undo drop link top nut
    move brake pipes/ abs wires away from strut
    remove the 2 18mm bolts from strut
    remove the Tory bolts from top

    Pull strut out put spring clamps and compress spring

    Remove top nut (May need to hold strut using torx/ Allen key depending on design)
    pull of top mount and bearing
    replace with new one

    Rebuild is reversal

    Test drive

    This is the one for changing springs - just don't change the springs !!! this how-to is SUPERB, job was easy and I completed in around three hours (total for both sides).

    My front suspension has been making an initially indistinct but now increasingly distinct 'spring-like' twanging noise. It's been doing it for some time and I haven't been able to devote time, effort and money to fixing the problem - until now. I have a series of questions. (1) Is it likely to be the strut bearings and / or mounting bushes? (2) Could it be the ball-joint at the lower end of the strut? (3) Since the car has been making noises for some time, will I need to replace the insert too? Thank you in anticipation. Paul

    will be either , top bearing or broken spring

    Ok. The springs are Eibach Sportsprings. Hopefully it's not those. Cheers, Mark. Are the bearings difficult to do? I still need to do my CV joint gaiter too. Been a bit slack about the Vec of late but feeling the love again, following a puncture today! (Eh?) Should I do the bushes / mounts at the same time? Paul

    Its best to crack the top nut while in situ, before removing the strut - far (and I mean far) easier that way
