    Default What are these for?

Was doing some engine detailing today and managed to drop my Torx driver set into the front bumper Used a normal flathead to remove the panel under the washer bottle and found this:

Is it a front fog lead? I don't have front fogs on my Siggy. Had a look on the other side and found this:

    IMAG0456.jpg

    Same lead?

If they are front fogs is it just a matter of popping in a front fog, connecting that lead and changing over the dash controls to one with front and rear fog switches? And will the lead that's already in the dash have the connectivity to work front fogs too or is there another connection i need to find behind the switch too?

Fog lights - possibly all that's needed is the switch in the cabin and Tech2-ing to activate, but that's assuming that the wiring harness is all there throughout the car. There may be a how2 on it all somewhere...

Yup foglight connectors. There's a great chance that as the loom is already there it should just be a case of, as Penfold says, adding headlight switch and activate the dashboard illumination and the front fogs in the BCM and UEC and Bob should be your mothers brother.

    Tech2-ing to activate
Ok, how do I go about this please? I'm assuming it's the same thing that you've both described.

Yes it is mate - it's basically Vauxhall's computer they use to connect and communicate with the on board computer modules which control everything through the canbus system. All you're doing when you press the fog light switch to 'on' is asking the computer to turn them on, so you have to tell the computer they're there in the first place. Tech2 is the 3 grand bit of kit they use to do it, and you can expect maybe an hour's labour to do so...?

Cheers, has to be done at a main stealer then? And would it be worth getting the TC and Sport switches in the dash too and having them switched on at the same time?

Some other people have Tech2 if they've paid for it - put it in the title of a thread here and you might get something but generally it's a dealer only thing. The other 2 buttons on the dash should light up anyway when they're fitted, they just won't do anything, and nothing on Tech2 can change that...

Cheers again. I'll have a look and cross my fingers for a member with Tech2 kit. I have a fairly good rapport with one of the local stealers so I may get a bit of discount.

VX will charge you an hours labour, about £65, considering its a 10 minute job to activate them its a joke. Post a thread in your local area section and someone should be able to do it for you for the usual beer tokens. You will need your car pass though, there is a security code on it that you require.

Wilsons in Scunny want £78 to do it. Rang Glews in Goole and they'd do it for standard diagnostic charge of around £30. I'll pop something on the Yorkshire section.
