Default 2.2 fuel pump problem agghhh

Hi guys just got the dredded spanner light so I dropped into a mate at a vx dealers and he plugged the tech 2 in and it came up 5a which says the pump is at fault and its going to cost me £550 for a new pump and a flush so the injectors don't get the crap.from the old pump.

    Does this sound right

    previous history is

Spanner light comes on first startup the restart the car and spanner goes away .

If I do try to give the car any gas limp mode kicks in and the spanner returns

Any ideas if all this info is correct before I throw £550 at the car

    Its a 06 vecta c 2.2 direct

    Any advice would appreciated

    Cheers

Pump takes 10minutes to fit, new pump ebay about £180? Few people i know changed the pumps without flush, its just the seals which go so cant see why the need for a flush?
Plasma's Tech2 services are now open and able to provide services

Still considerably better than the £550 you were previously quoted.

Not in my experience,... I had 2 of the so called 'revised' pumps fail in 13 months (16k miles) of each other. VX would not contribute at all)

So how the heck have Vauxhall got away with that then? ...are the pumps sealed units and un-repairable?
