    Default K+N Panel Filter Fitted

I received my K+N panel filter this morning and fitted it in around 5 minutes. Took it for a spin and the difference is really good.

I wouldn't say that the car has any more power, but the smoothness is really noticable.

I know people will say that its because the old filter was due to be changed, but it was changed around 3 months ago.

I was very sceptical about the claims that this really improves the car, but I can definately say that it has mine.

I ordered it yesterday from Demon Tweeks (Just under £40) and paid £9 for express delivery because I'm really impatient!

Orderd yesterday at 14:20 and it arrived today at 10:15, so all I'm really impressed - I even got some K+N stickers in the box! (None of which will be going anywhere near my car!)

    Car is a 2008, 1.8 SRi.

I used to say that the K&N panel filter made no odds to my car but; I took it out a couple of weeks ago to clean it. I put a brand new (was lying in its original box in the shed) stock one on for a week whilst I cleaned the K&N and let it dry. Once I re-fitted the K&N, I definately did notice a difference from the stock filter

Chris was the original filter a VX or a patterned part? I changed from a pattern part air filter to a VX Air filter last year and immediately noticed a difference. If you look at the VX one it has plastic honey comb running over the top of it, which will stop the filter from deforming as the engine sucks the air in, which also means more air gets through the filter as the pleats cant close up.

Just to report back, I've done 200 miles since fitting this yesterday and there is no noticable difference to my MPG. Sorry Sheepish!

It is a 1.8. I changed my standard to a pipercross panal and seen a very slight difference. Better mpg, I can say that for sure. Mines is a 2.0t

    Thanks Chris.

To be honest, I was more worried about it going down than up given some of the things I've read in the past. As long as there's no detrimental effect, it justifies the purchase because you'll never have to replace it, just a wash and oil every 'how ever many miles'...
