Default Replacement GSi brake caliper (292mm discs)

    Hi All,

Looking for the best place (and price obviously) to replace the passenger side rear caliper. It is binding on at the moment (when I first drive off, but frees off after a bit of driving)

The link below looks like a good price, just wondering if anybody had used them or there was a recommended alternative.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-V...item27c0bc3092

It says it fits all types, I know there are different diameter discs from 292mm downwards

    Cheers

Type vectra 292mm into ebay and it will bring up the caliper you want

I've also.used that company before and they are very good so maybe just ring them

I have one that you're welcome to have if you want to come collect it. I bought a set second hand set on e-bay for my 292mm upgrade and the seller shafted me. The drivers side has a snapped bleed nipple which an engineering shop has tried to drill out for me, unsuccessfully. I'm going to buy a pair of the ones you have found to cut my losses and start again.

Tried lots of compination on ebay - and a few calipers came up but not always clear what size they are for (just wanted to check that the same caliper works for all the disc options). I tried "vectra 292mm" and it only lists discs and pads (got front and rear disc/pad kits already from vaux).

There are only two sizes of caliper for the rear on all Vec-Cs - 292mm disks and 278mm. 292 disks are vented, 278 are solid, so it's easy to tell them apart - just ask sellers if the caliper is for vented or solid disks.

Thanks for the kind offer greenleprechaun, I spoke to the company and it is for the 292mm discs. I will try the new option, but I may take you up on the offer if things go pear shaped. I can't remember the exact cost that the garage charged me last year for the dealer part (needed it quick) but I'm sure it was about £130.

A few years ago I got new vented discs fitted on the rear and the pads overlaped the edge of the disc - I was pretty sure there was a smaller diamer option (I thought there was a difference in size between the early and late GSi's

Thinking about it, I could be getting mixed up with the fronts - one had a difference depending on the year.

F Y I folks, got this calliper and it went on a treat. Ordered on Monday and it was delivered lunch time next day – would defo recommend (has 2 year unlimited mileage guarantee)

Changed all discs and pads and had to get new front shocker and new rear spring (to replace the original "designed to fail" ones that Vauxhall fit) – Another MoT in the bag
