    Default Vectra Timing Belt Question

    Hello guys got a 52 Plate Vectra a week back and looking through the docs. The car had a timing belt and water pump at 38k the car is currently on 89k when should I consider changing the timing belt. The car is a 1.8

    every 60k is recommended.. so you should be ok for a while longer. Strange that it was done so early in its life... I did the full belts, pulleys and pump change at 75k on my wifes 1.8 vec. As i was doing it the timing belt snapped so it was close to being a goner, close call you might say.

    Sounds like a lucky escape, yeah thats what I thought little to soon to be changing it but then again some people are over cautious. Is it a pricey job?

    60k or every 6 years for the z18xe. £55 for a VX timing belt kit off ebay and about £35 for a genuine water pump. 1.5-2 hours for fitting them.

    well yes, I did ours at home having never done one before, there is a sort of How2 on here, its a little vague but it gives you enough to do the job.. I did have to go out and buy an electric impact wrench to get the crank bolt out though, but a great tool that has come in handy since and will continue to do so.
