Default Intermittent cruise control & oil can light...HELP NEEDED

    Hi all

I hope someone is able to help me with the following...

Over the last 2 weeks I have had this a few times when driving home from the girlfriends house which is about 40 miles away

    2 seperate issues..

First one is the oil can light....Driven all the way to hers no problem then 4 hours later when I get back in the car about 10 miles into my journey home the light comes on

This has happened twice now on 2 occasions but the oil level seems fine?

The second one is the cruise control...

Over the last week I've noticed it has been starting to turn itself off on its own? Tonight however it decided not to turn on so I left it 10 mins while driivng then it worked? Any ideas?

If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great thanks

    Its a 07 plate 1.9 cdti vectra c

    Thanks

Re Cruise control - I fixed mine by repeatedly pushing the cc button on the end of the stalk - its usually dirty switch contacts and by doing this seems to clean them and improve the contact. Also try http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...ghlight=cruise Looks complicated but easy to do Also check the switch connections on your clutch and brake pedals

Re- oil light coming on - is it the oil can on its own or the oil can with a spanner through it - the oil can on its own indicates a problem with the oil pressure system could be oil pump or more often the oil pressure switch - check connections to the switch - if its the oil pump this could lead to serious damage to your engine.
If its the oil can with spanner this is the service indicator and means your car is ready for a service or the light needs resetting.

Thanks very much... It's just the oil can with no spanner

Its really strange as one night I checked the level and it seemed a tad low then the next morning it seemed fine?

Do you think a code reader could tell me which one it is? Ie the pump or pressure switch?

Or best to get it in the garage?

Its not the oil level its the pressure that the oil is running at - a code reader will probably pick up a faulty oil pressure switch - but not sure that it would indicate low pressure. Perhaps another member will come along and advise on that. You need to get the oil pressure checked pretty quickly as you can soon damage your engine running it with at low pressure. As far as your oil level - you can get a different reading on your dipstick when the engine is hot and when cold - check it in accordance to the owners handbook. HTH
