    Default Cleaning MAF sensor

I had intermittent juddering on light acceleration on my 1.9 cdti. I have cleaned the boost sensor, EGR, throttle body, mesh filter off boost control solenoid and replaced vac pipes with silicone ones. The car absolutely flies now but very (and I mean very occassionaly) I think the judder may still be there. If it is then it is very slight. I was thinking about cleaning the MAF sensor just to be sure. I have had it off the car and can't see anything sinister. I have read that the whole lot should be soaked in IPA and then dried before re-fitting. is this right or will carb cleaner be OK? Is it ok to clean the entire unit except the electrical connector on the side? or should I just leave well alone?

I would recommend CRC MAF Cleaner for the job: CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner

Cheers. Didn't realise you had to use a dedicated cleaner. Have you or other members on here used it? Is there any chance of damaging it if i'm too too rough? Could GT 85 be used as this is an electrical cleaner?

Should cleaning this be part of routine maintenance like the EGR etc?

I have used it and it didn't do any damage. Just be careful: don't touch the sensor, only spray it with the cleaner and let it dry. I would only use the dedicated MAF-cleaner, because MAF's aren't cheap to replace. I wouldn't touch it with any cleaner if I'd know it is working fine, only if there is something wrong (contaminated MAF due to faulty air filter etc.).

Might just leave it and see how it goes then.

Well after driving in traffic the dreaded hesitation returned once or twice. Might be forced into trying this now
