Starter Motor?

Hi all,

As mentioned in another post I have recently purchased a vectra SXi CDTI..

It appears to be a very decent car, however it has a few niggles..

When starting the car, it fires up 50% of the time first time. When it does not fire up, it makes a loud screaching sound.. (ouch) I believe it might be the starter motor? But does anyone else have any suggestions?

Will have a hunt through the How 2's see if there is a guide to changing it!

T=Its easy enough to do Dan - 3 bolts and 2 electrical connections - access is the problem - you need to remove your battery and battery box to get access and get underneath as well. Don't know if yours is the 120 cdti or the 150 but they do have different motors and you have to make sure you get the right one. A genuine one will cost around £230 - I changed mine a few months ago and bought it off a seller I have used a few times cost me £90 for a re-manufactured one and they do brand new for around £10 more. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-V...#ht_500wt_1054
