Hi All,
Take it easy on me, new to all this forum stuff!
Car went to the garage Monday for a new clutch to be fitted, slipping really bad, no noise or anything so thought "OK, DMF must be fine!" Garage called me 5pm yesterday to say that the DMF was FUBAR, need a new one, haven't got much of an idea when it comes to mechanics, he told me that it would be more beneficial to have a solid flywheel fitted, last longer apparently. Picked the car up 5pm today and when you get to 2000 RPM, rattling/whining (Like the turbo spinning up) but sounds really rough, acc peddle vibrates and so does most of the car, get to just below 3000 RPM, and it goes away.
There doesn't seem to be any performance issues, if anything it feels better now after having all of this fitted.
Took it back to the garage now, we took it out for a drive and he says that it is the turbo spinning up, nothing to e worried about. It's really loud and sounds horrible!
Can't be the turbo as when still, rev the car, and it sounds "Normal". Checked all pipes, for splits and if anything was disturbed, but all is fine, would expect it to throw up a fault or Limp Home mode if turbo was playing up or a pipe was off.
After spending £700, you would expect it all to be fine.
If your wondering, its a 05 plate Signum this is the first clutch change, original lasted 124,000 miles! It's got the 2.0 DTI engine.
Any help would be grateful, going to throw it back at him tomorrow as I am really not happy! I understand it's not the garages fault if its faulty parts, but its a lot of money to just say don't worry about it!
