not necessarily. there is a very common problem with the wiring to the 3rd injector; if that is causing the problem, it costs just a few pounds to fix.
field remedy kit is available for it.

but - if the 3rd injector is faulty, then that is going to cost quite a lot to replace.

seen used ones on ebay for £80 for example, sounds a bit dodgy getting second hand ones though.

new from vauxhall, pretty sure it's at least double that amount for the part.

sounds like it could be a DIY job, though iirc requires "tech 2" ...

anyway, almost certainly it is just the wiring.

Cambelt should be changed at 100k (without looking at manual!). With the 3rd injector i think it was £11 for the wiring kit. Check first if the plug is yellow or blue. Vauxhall replaced them with blue ones!

Also thing to look out for is under the engine cover. Check the Inlet manifold actuator swirl bar is attached. I changed mine and it wasnt cheap! Can get them on vauxhall car connexxions for £80.

Also listen for a knocking at the back. Probably the Anti Roll Bar bushes or possibly the rear upper control arms. Both easy to replace yourself.

You will know if there is a leak from the injectors because there will be a strong smell of diesel. I know because i am having my injector seal replaced 2moro!....THEN ITS A REMAP!!!!

Many on this forum have heard or have actually suffered cam belt breakage prior to 100K miles. Apparently it is the water pump which usually fails prior to this mileage and takes the cambelt out with it along with the engine top end rockers. Most would recommend 70 ish K miles.

I wouldnt not wait for 100K to change the belt kit and pump.. I have done many changes now and seen some worn belts at 70 / 80K... Plus its often the pulleys / pump that breaks down first causing the belt to come off / snap.

If all the injector plugs have a yellow tab they are the old style and the 3rd injector 'mod' is changing the plug and leading wire for one with a blue tab. £12 from VX and easy to fit TBH.

As above - remove the engine cover and check the rod that connects the 4 swirl flaps together. If thats fallen off ultimatly it means a new inlet manifold.

Check for normal Vec-C stuff.. Service History etc..

Im in Ashford Middlesex and if it needs work etc - shout ..
