Default 1.9 16v cdti sometimes starts very poorly when warm help plz?

Ok the problem is that when warm the car 8 times out of 10 starts poorly taking a few seconds to run its self, but runs fine with plenty of power once started. Ive changed all filters and starts fine when cold, there is another problem i'm not sure is related, whem i'm stopping and dip the clutch at about 5 mph the engine dips below idle and returns to normal when ive stopped. Its been into vx beforw for that problem but no problems found, anyone had these issues?
    Thanks guys! :-)

Hi , not sure if this will be the same fix for yours but I had a similar issue with mine (only had it a few weeks) and it was a pig to start once warm but fine from cold. I found that after I'd cleaned the EGR valve, and boost sensor on the back of the inlet manifold and fitted the fiat EGR valve blanking gaskets that mine is almost perfect at starting. It still catches me out once a day maybe out of 7-8 starts but is miles better.

Might also be worth putting some carb cleaner through your thottle inlet too as mine was gummed up with loads of oil residue, presumably sucked through with the high crankcase vacuum that i hear these are fairly typical of.

Have you considered your starter motor - does it sound as though it is turning the engine over fast enough - several previous posts on starter motor problems

Yes - sorry - I was going to say before doing anything check your battery and charging system before doing anything.

yeah, al check it but the battery is glowing green it sounds as if theres plenty of juice and it stars fine when cold and most of the time when warm, its only done 50 k, my mums audi a4 had a problem with the starter motor but it just sounded sluggish mines sounds as if it starts for a split second and cuts out also that other idle problem i mentioned i think it might be something to do with the idle control some valve or sensor or somthing al take some readings later today and post them. also i ment to mention when it does this i hear like a crunching noise, i think its somthing to do with this starting problem when it doesn't start properly i think its messing with the starter clutch if that makes sence. thanks guys
