    Talking birthday prezzie

    As its my birthday tomorrow , and that im on the road in the early hours my wife gave me my birthday prezzie early .....no ... not what your thinking .... I'm married

    My prezzie was a 22'' pc monitor ... blimey its fantastic ... optimum resolution of 1680 x 1050 @ 60 hz

    what is the 60 hz bit .... ive adjusted the resolution but is there something else i need to adjust with regards to the 60 hz ??

    Nice!

    The 60Hz is the display frequency - you want the fastest your card is capable of supporting at that frequency as it will reduce flicker and the strain/tiring effect on your eyes.

    Go into Control Panel>Display>Settings (you'll see the resolution there)>Advanced>Monitor and you'll see a drop-down box for Screen refresh rate. Make sure the 'Hide modes that this monitor cannot display' is ticked so that you can't choose a frequency that could damage the monitor. Choose the highest frequency you can.

    if your graphics card is a bit old, you may find that it won't support your super-duper resolution @ 60Hz so you'll either need to drop the frequency (more tiring on your eyes) or drop the resolution.

    Of course, before all that you need to install the driver for the monitor.
