The bonnet release can be adjusted. If you loosen the bolt on the outer cable in your pic and pull on the outer cable you can remove the slack and your bonnet will pop open with ease. A bit of heat shrink will tidy the look of it up and you can get it in blue!!!

Baz, not sure if the same applys for modern cars but in the old days (70's/80's) if that happened (usually to the choke cable...anyone remember those things lol) it meant you had forgot to reconnect the engine to chassis earth cable and it used the choke cable as an earth.

i was temped to do that but due to it only gripping the metal cable i am worried it might not work after if that makes seance not sure what the outcome would be

howe after replacing or fixing i am going to put some foil tape over that part to reflect the heat

I remember! lol, had that happen when i forgot to reconnect the neg to the gearbox

2.8T's get stupidly hot, but not hot enough to cause that? Is the heat shield intact over the turbo.. If this is off its enough to make even the bonnet stay too hot to touch.

turbo heat shield is on and all other pipe work ect seems fine with no heat damage so a bit strange
