    Default The Veccy had to go

    Hi All,
    I've been following this forum for some years now, and can confirm that it has been a valuable source of information and product knowledge that is second to none.

    Some useful information for the record...

    My 1.8 club was getting to the point where money was going to be needed to keep it as reliable as it has been so it had to go.

    The last 9 years have been trouble free, apart from services and consumables such as brake pads and tyres, the only replacements have been:
    2 x front springs
    2 x rear shocks
    2 x starter motors( The first was a recon which I should have replaced with a new one!)
    cam and crank sensor
    battery

    after 9years and 92,000 miles it still had its original
    silencer
    radiator
    discs
    alternator
    clutch
    it didn't burn a drop of oil and started at the first turn of the key.

    everything still worked as it should...

    Due to be replaced:
    Water pump and cam belt
    Rear suspension top joints (MOT advisory)
    Left and right brake pipes (MOT advisory)
    clutch & silencer back box (must both be nearing end of life)

    Plus, with the children now moved out it was a bit big and expensive to run for just Mrs Chedder & me. 30-40mpg and I drive slooowly.

    It may be that I just happened upon a good'un. But I have nothing but good memories of my time with my Veccy.

    I've downsized to a new Astra, as I was so happy with Vauxhall I stayed faithful to the marque...

    still vauxhall mate so we will let you off let us know how you get on with astra
