Default injector no4 leaking.need advice asap

hi there.i recently sold my old 53 plate 2.0 dti and bought a 1.9 cdti sri 2005.its been great and ive done 2000 mls no prob.today while cleaning car i removed the engine cover to clean and found what can only be described as a black blob around the 4rth injector.i immediatly run the car to local garage who didnt want to even touch the car.i called the guy i bought it from and he told me that this temp fix was done before he bought the car 3 years ago and its been running like this for years.well ive been trying to get prices from good garages and there all painting terrible pictures.saying the injector might be seized.it might break when trying to remove.one garage even told me to just leave it alone.i love the car and just want it fixed.what do i do?any advice would be great as i feel terrible.never had any problems like this before.

it will more than likely be chuffing at idle & maybe even leaking a bit of smoke , so it needs sorting as you rightly say .
it could well be tight in there but a couple of days patience & some searing may see it come out , will need to be soaked with something to loosen the tar/carbon .

thanks for the quick reply.got a ring back from local vx dealer.they quoted me £62 for an hour labour and fitting new copper washer/seal.phoned a few local garages and they wanted a min of 4 hours labour.i just hope that it comes out easy and that the new seal fixes my problem.knowing my luck i will put it in and my injector will break when being removed.i have not got good luck when dealing with main dealers.anyway its booked in for monday morning.fingers crossed.

How did you clean the seat as we have a tool that does it as it needs to be flat and 100% free of carbon to get a good seal.

This is the one we use: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sealey-Too...item20c4ce42ef

hi lee the guy in the garage used a long tube thing that a brush came out the bottom.i suspect this is my problem.also i think the last owner might have used the tool you listed a bit too much as my injector sits lower than the others.im now waiting on diesel specialist calling me back to arrange to see the car.im now pricing a new head just incase it comes to that, could kick myself for not checking under the enigne cover before i bought the car.feel sick,
