Default Oil in upper inlet manifold

I did post this a few days ago in the general troubleshooting section, but got little respond. So I'll repost and hope for some help...:

I undid my upper inlet manifold yesterday, and in addition to all the black gunk it was clear evidence of some shiny liquid in there as well. Is that normal??

Reason for undoing the manifold is that I've been having loads of problems lately with spanner light coming on, engine runs but does not respond to the trottle. I stop the engine and after 10 sec off it works fine again. I changed the EGR after having several EGR related codes, but that just seemed to make it worse...
Car is '04 2,0 DTI done 178000 km.

    Any help is appreciated

sounds like oil is bypassing the turbo bearing seal, have you got smokey exhaust when engine is working hard.the EGR valve is on the exhaust manifold !

Haven't noticed any smokey exhaust, but will keep an eye on it.

when you changed the egr valve did you inspect inside the exhaust manifold,if not i think you will find that it is carboned up with the milage you have, the only cure is to remove manifold and clean of all the gunk.i think you will be amazed how much crap is inside if you check it,remove egr valve and you can see if there is a build up

Sadly it is fairly normal to get a small degree of seepage from the egr via the intercooler or the turbo bearing.44Have a look at the low pressure side and see if the oil is being introduced from the CCV before unduly worrying about turbo failure.

Did that a few months ago. Incredible how much stuff that builds up in there. That sorted my problems for a while, but now we're back to "normal" with car stopping every so often...
