painting chrome strip (advice needed)

Thanks to the how 2 on here i was able to remove the chrome strip easily.

Just need advice on painting it.

How much do i sand it down?
do I sand between coats of primer?

any help or point in the right direction will be great

Just scotch pad it so the primer has something to key to and you'll be OK... i don't sand between coats, only need to if you mess up and get bubbles or rough spots etc...

I only really flat after the lacquer, then buff to a shine...

stupid question ive never painted anything what does flat mean is that jus like wet n dry it?

Yeah, 1500/2000 will be enough, but to buff after this your best with a machine polisher, if you dont just make sure you dont over do the lacquer and build it up slowly and you prob wont need to flat it back so its even etc...
