    Default Have I been scammed

I took out a contract fone from phones for you 2 days ago, an iphone 4s, at the time I didnt take out insurance, so today I gets a call from P4u to ask if I wanted insurance, I asked if they could call back as I was busy, 30 mins later another call about insurance, gave bank details and settled on insurance at £7pm.....all good I thought ....30 mins later phones for you call me up and ask if I wanted insurance ....I tell them im just of the phone about insurance and they said its nothing to do with them, ..... but they knew everything about me, name, address, postcode, iphone ....I did a search and it looks like a scam, the number that called me was 02071270819 ............ I now need to goto my bank and explain all this to them ...grrrrrrr

I had a "run in" with phones for you a while back, they are a joke of a company run by clowns will never deal with them ever again.

If it is a genuine company and not some Nigerian, you should have a cooling off period where you can back out of it plus you'd be able to get any direct debit reversed under direct debit guarantee. did you get a company name?

go bank and ask about their direct debit policy you might have to wait till the direct debit has gone through your bank first
if you have given a card number then i found the easy way around that is just phone bank and tell them you lost your card they send you a new one with a new long number on it so the old one will not work so its useless the company having it

yes you have been scammed the company that rang you have nothing to do with phones 4u they have obtained your number by using blocks of numbers a network will issue out to mobile phone retailers . What that company does is they know what the numbers generated will run from so they get in putted into a dialler system and when they hit the jackpot i.e the call connects they pick up the phone and wait for you to answer , i bet they asked you how you where getting on with your new phone and asked you which phone you purchased , then proceeded to ask you for your details . what happens when you need to make a claim is zilch as they will not pay out so go to the bank tell them what has happened and instruct them not to honour any payments to that company if you didnt get a company name then tell the bank how much the quarterly payment is for .

Your bank should be able to provide cover for your new phone if not then use premierplan
