    Cool 49 mpg!

Did a trip to Nottingham from the North East on Monday to help someone move some stuff back up north, and managed a staggering 49 MPG in my lovely 1.8 petrol. I didn't think it would get that high!

I must admit I was very light footed on the pedal mind.

I really love this engine, it would probably be perfect if it had a 6 speed gearbox attached, although maybe a little underpowered (anybody modded a 6 speed on yet? I bet someone has!)

Do you trust those on boards?
My old V6 used to come up with figures like that and some of them were borderline comical.
I pointed it out to the guy I sold the car too and even he didn't believe them.

I worked it out after filling it back up at the same pump when I got back and it came out at 50.58 mpg. obviously not lab conditions but I think it's fairly accurate.

The 1.8 will do even better than that, on my daily commute, my pb is 55.2mpg (calcualted the old fashioned way). 55mph and a bit of coasting :-)

Mine will easily do around 52mpg if the computer is reset straight after filling up, when the engine is warm and I go straight onto the motorway / dual carriageway and do between 50/60mph.
