    Default Strange noises when warm

    My vectra gsi has a strange squeeling noise when the car gets warm. Can sometimes be heard when the cars going in a straight line but mainly when the wheels are turned. This only ever happens when the car is warm.
    Anyone else had this problem.

    Sounds Like a failing bearing.

    Does this happen when the car is stationary with engine running?
    Does it change pitch/volume with revs?
    Possible Water pump , alternator...
    Or Auxiliary drive belt...

    Otherwise
    Could it be from a worn wheel bearing only squeeling
    when it expands with use/heat?
    What mileage is the car on and have the bearing been changed?

    The I tried last night and the noise would only happen when the car is warm and moving. When turning as going in a straight line. The cars done 67000 miles. So suppose it could be a wheel bearing that's on it's way out. No bearings been changed as of yet.
    Proberly about the only thing I haven't got for the car as have the warter pump and can belt ready to do.

    I have exactly the same thing on my recently purchased '03 Vectra. Noise wasn't evident on the test drive and has only come following a full set of discs and pads as part of the warranty work prior to collection. It's been in and the mechanic tells me some clips on the rear of the pad sometimes catch, he tweaked them and the squeek went away - now it's out of warranty the squeel is back and driving me mad!!

    More pronounced on warm dry days, but with the window open, radio off and listening you can hear it coming and going as you drive along. Any suggestions as to what it can be? Driving me totally bonkers!!

    Yours is almost definitely the little guard behind the disc that sits up against it behind the lower ball joint. You can see if if you look round the back of the wheel, just tweak it out a few mm with a screw driver and the squeal will go. Very common on the Vecs.

    Fantastic, I do hope so - followed the suggestion on another thread about oiling the radiator springs as I too was getting that horrible creaking noise at low speed, so hopefully this will rid me of my 'in ride whistle'

    I had the very same problem after new front discs and pads were fitted in mid-summer. It was indeed the little heat shield items at lower balljoint area. I simply prised them out a tad with a screwdriver. Never had problem since.
