    Default L200 advice

ok, I thought I had my mind made up and was after a new shape L200 pickup but after reading up on different forums etc the general opinion is that they can be very unreliable, overheating, crank pullys to name a few.

I know I should be going for a hilux but these are hard to come by and are usually overpriced with big miles.

Anyone on here with any real world advice?

My Brother had one about 5 years ago. It all depends on what you are going to use it for, but it was sore on fuel and very uncomfortable in the rear seat, a park bench would have been better. The rear flat bed/ pick up part was good fro carrying cargo, but was bad for accessability especially with the cover on it. It all depends on what you want it for, because it is a nightmare for going shopping. It is way too large to fit into the normal parking bays. Fuel consumption is not good, I can't remember the figures but I do know that on a holiday to Cornwall it was dreadfull, and that was before the big fuel price rises. Off road it is the dogs danglies, not as good as a land rover, but still ****** good.
    I hope that helps.

I've drove one and they have a poor turning circle, **** fuel consumption, no space in the back for bucking

I ordered a new Shogun Sport Warrior a few years ago which is based on the L200, i ordered it new with the "£700 Power Upgrade", it was a lovely motor, but very thirsty for a 2.5ltr. I remember filling up in epping, driving to Reading to work in the Verizon building over night and then back to chelmsford the next morning, a 180 mile motorway trip used £58 of diesel..

In comparison, the Ford Ranger XLT I had for work before the shogun was far better on fuel, and you could also shift into 4wd in the fly upto 60mph
