    Default No drain pluy on my gearbox???

    Hi all... ive been reading through the forum and found out that there is no drain plug on the 1.8 zx18e gearbox (F17)
    So how am i supposed to change the oil and is it a hard job?

    hi lozza

    your car has only done 40000 miles

    is there a problem with the gearbox

    ive only seen people on here change oil in the auto boxes only

    have you found that noise yet

    and have you done the top mount bearings ?

    top mounts are done... no more knocking noise ... the rattling noise is the water pump i believe.
    I have a little oil leak on the crankshaft oil seal so im gonna do that and the WP at the same time
    just bought all the bits yesterday WP, CS seal, oil and coolant.

    does the waterpump leak around the cambelt area

    dont use the same cambelt when changing have you got a new belt

    had the cambelt kit done at 38k.... so wouldnt that belt be ok?

    no water leak but sounds like the bearing is goin

    To drain the oil you need to remove the gearbox sump and to refill, to refill you need to do it through the reversing lights switch
