    Default Swirl Valves......

Well after stripping just about everything else off and cleaning sensors and valves..... It ran perfectly again.
Suddenly there was a loss of power at low revs again..... search under the bonnet to discover this......

    The rail has come off!!

Is it easy to refit - if it comes off again is it new inlet manifold territory?? The car has a warranty for another 1500 miles or so.

    Whatever next????

Now it's come off it will keep doing it, it can be popped back on pretty easy, but will do it again. I fixed mine with fibre washers glued in place, worked for a few thousand miles now. Like you said, when it's off you lose bottom end grunt, don't understand how these guys that glue the flaps open don't notice this ???????

1st things 1st, try get it repaired under warranty, you might get a new manifold if you're lucky as they won't sell the bar as a single componant ( well they wouldn't when I tried )

How can I get in to refit the rail?? It appears I need fingers like ET!! some of the valves are in different positions too - how can I release and move them without damaging them??

I used a thin strip of metal ( like a drain cleaner ) with a "V" bend in the end to get under it and lift it along with a long screw driver to help manouvre then push down the sockets. Use the screw driver to adjust all the swirls so they are in the 10 oclock position when engine is off ( basically exactly the same position as the 3rd from left swirl as this is the motor driven swirl ). But it will do it again unless you A) fix it B) new unit.

Check all the swirls move freely 1,2,4 ( from left )

Cheers for the guidance - all seem to move freely - I had the same issue with my last engine in the old Signum. Just a pain its decided to come off now after all the other work I've done on it!

She'll be fine with that don't worry. :-)

Looking at you pic it's quite worn, I'd try fixing it anyway whilst waiting to see what the warranty ppl say. Cost a tube of glue & a pack of washers. Lil bit of time and some sandpaper, 5mm drill bit, easy fix.

mmm looking at your previous post you've cleaned the egr and boost sensor. i wonder if the manifold is leaking pressure?
