I'd have to look at the service report - dealer has now changed hands so don't have the information - all they can see is how much I paid, but I have the info at home and I'm pretty sure I never saw water pump. I'll dig it out tonight and have a look. Even if they did and it is the waterpump, I'm past the 12month parts warranty.

Well, just got a call from the garage. Sure they're sharfting me, but nothing I can do about it really. :-( They've stripped it and got everything on the floor so it's a question of put the old stuff back in or replace it with new stuff. They're not entirely sure where the noise is coming from??? so they're going to replace the water pump, timing belt, idlers and tensioner for... £650!!!!!

I'll get a proper breakdown of the bill when I pick it up tomorrow. That brings the grand total of expenses to £2310 so far this year. That's £330 a month! Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Leemarksmith had a similar problem with his and turned out to be a seized water pump I think or one of the idler pulleys had siezed thus shredding the cambelt

More info in this thead (plus some pics):- http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...ipped-the-CDTI

Hope it's better news for you Giw

Ah Jeez mate... £650 for a belt kit and water pump!! OMG..

I see your in Berkshire - I am in Ashford Middlesex and could have done all this for you for parts and labour for approx £220...

The belt kit will have the belt, roller pulley and tensioner and the water pump is extra...

Hi Mate - sorry, feel bad about writing the post above.. I didnt want to rub in the cost you have paid etc... the garage clearly had you by the b***s.. Just wanted to put it in perspective.

Never mind - next time - give me a ping when you need something

Hey no worries mate. Next time something goes wrong (as I'm sure it will), I'll give you a ping. I'm sure the DMF will go again knowing my luck with cars. I'll get a breakdown of everything the guy's done when I pay tomorrow and if I think I'm being fleeced then I'll pay under protest and sue him for the difference. Simples! :-) If he changes the crankshaft pulley and everything else then I'll have to see it as an investment. I'll certainly be interested in seeing the paperwork though to see how he arrives at his price...

A nice trick is to always ask for the old parts back.. OK - its not fail safe - but its a goo way to try and ensure parts that garages say they will change, they do...

Let us know the breakdown of whats been done tomorrow
