    Default Brake recommendations!

    Hi chaps,

Had my brake wear indicator come on a few days ago, I must be getting slack as in the past I've ALWAYS done my brakes long before they've triggered the wear sensor!

After a recommendation on which pads to order... In the past I've always just had bog standard kits from VX or motor factors. Fancied putting something else on instead this time as a minor upgrade (can never hurt to have a little extra stopping power!) but without the hassle and expense of uprating the discs and callipers.

What would make a noticeable difference in braking efficiency? I've heard about Mintex pads, but never tried them.

Additionally, would it be worth replacing my brake hoses whilst I'm doing the job? They're the originals from 2004 and have nearly 100k on them. Do they deteriorate? Would a new set, or an upgraded set give me sharper braking response and a firmer pedal?

    Cheers guys!

Anyone got any ideas about the hoses?

I've used Mintex 'brake boxes' on loads of my cars and I'm generally pleased with them. I've always found them a good fit and wear well. A dab of copper grease seems to stop any squealing.

Have you tried Bosch? Fitted a set to the A class and she drives with the brake on most of the time and still ok.!

Cheers guys, sounds like Mintex might be more hassle than I need!

I'll just buy a decent brand set of pads from ebay!
