Default glow plugs - where do they go?

I'm going to show my lack of knowledge here but here it goes....

Where do glow plugs go in a 1.9CDTi 120 engine? I only ask because the local dealer has just installed a new head, put in my old glow plugs, found them to be in need of replacing, and now can't get the glow plugs out. Do the glow plugs screw in to the head? When removing the old head, would they have had to have taken the glow plugs out of wherever they came?

I'm basically trying to find out whether it was the garage that have doen the glow plugs up too tight and now can't get them out, or whether the glow plugs could have stayed in situ whilst all the work was going on, and thus it wasn't the garage that did them up too tight

    Thanks for your help

They do screw into the cylinder head - tucked away at the rear of the engine below where your EGR valve is located. Difficult to access and can be stubborn to remove. It would have been a lot easier for the mechanic to get access and remove/change them when the head was off the car

thanks for that, I've had a look at the pics, and it looks to me as though they do bolt in to the head, but can someone just confirm this for me before I go in to the dealer all guns blazing

That's ok - I would have thought if they have taken them out of your old head and put them in the new one they should be easy enough to remove - its usually when they have been installed in the car for years that you have difficulty moving them

that's what I thought, so the delay in getting the car back to me is their own fault, all I wanted to know. Cheers
