Default Z30DT EGR Removal - How do I do this?

Does anyone have a guide to removing the EGR on a Z30DT?

Why do you need to remove it?
    Surely it hasn't failed already?
If so, is your car covered by a warranty?

If you are considering blanking, then it is bad news as you can't on this engine without having to make other modifications (including turbo and EMS)

I am experiencing judder/hesitation almost every time I try to accelerate then spanner symbol and car is in limp mode. I have a P0093-52 code pointing to the EGR, I'd like to take it off and try cleaning it again, problem is the bottom 2 screws aren't easily accessible so suspect there is an easier way to get at it.

The spanner is Engine Warning light
Normally the EGR puts the Emissions Warning light on instead

Yes, access to the screws on the EGR Valve is very poor
Sadly you CANNOT clean the EGR Valve on any of the V6 CDTI engines on the Vectra C (Y30DT and Z30DT), so have the code read correctly by TECH2 to make sure this diagnosis is correct
A new EGR Valve is not cheap, although it does the resolved the issue for the next 90K miles (3 services)

I got hold of a S/H EGR off eBay yesterday and fitted it this evening, not too bad a job and would have been <1hr if I'd thought to put the lower gasket in place before bolting the EGR on. Took the car for a drive and for first few hundred yards was great, then spanner light & limping, drove home. I reset the DTC (P0093-52) and decided to check if the fuel filter had indeed been replaced at last service as I had a spare one, filter was clean so put lid on. Thought I'd take car out again to check fuel supply ok after disturbing filter and car was perfect, took it for 10 mile blast and it performed better than it had in a long time. I'm doing 60 mile trip tomorrow so hopefully that should go ok. Replacing the EGR on Z30DT isn't difficult at all, I'm sure I could halve the time next time round (maybe not too far away as I fitted a S/H part)

I agree, second hand EGR Valves on eBay UK can be purchased for less than £100
Compare that to the £400 a dealership wants
Looks like I may as well buy the vectra-c.com membership to obtain my Trade Card...
