    Default High idle speed

    1.9 120Bhp, 2007

Always idles around 750-800rpm standing still. Last night and this morning it was idling at around 1000rpm. I've made no changes to anything engine-related recently so unsure why it's changed. Not an immediate problem but I'd like to investigate before it becomes one.

    Any comments or advice welcome.

    Thanks in Advance
    Stuart

Alternator starting to fail. Mine done this too. Ecu increases idle speed in an attempt to increase the charge from the alternator. Check the voltage at idle

Home from work and all electrics were on their way out!!

Well, since it was p1$$ing down, all I got done tonight was airbox and alternator bolts out - can't even order the new unit until I get the number off the faulty one - the supplier was looking at 105A upwards on his catalogues and said they're all different, even to the same engine....

Well it's off the car just now, I can get a split new one for £145 which seems the best deal, but if it's the rectifier it may be repairable I'm led to believe, so I'm off to the auto-sparky on Monday morning
