yep.. seems that as soon as the nights get dark, the numpties are easier to spot...

They do my head in..why someone can't link it in to a sensor and stop them putting the lights on..

I actually think that new cars should not have fog lights at all.

In my experience they do more harm than good. If visibility is so bad then you won't be driving fast anyway, hence won't need that extra distance to see the person in front using high intensity rear lights.

IMO, there are FAR too many people who have no idea what they are for. Some people think that they are a force field that will prevent accidents or they are to warn people of a slight mist some where over Wales.

Really annoys me, as it is dangerous to have them on inappropriately.

Highway code says only to be used if visibility is lower than 100m, and they should be switched off when a vehicle is behind you.

Today on M1, visibility at some parts was about 4 miles (at least), and still the t***s had them on.

    Rant over. Take deep breaths.....

Actually it's 300m or less for rear fogs, 100m or less for fronts.

Actually it is not specified any more. The only visibility quoted is less than 100m when headlights must be used and you can use front or rear foglights.

    See Highway Code rules 94, 201, 210, and 211 here. http://www.highwaycode.gov.uk/f.htm

The overall point remains the same though, even if the specific detail is missing now.

Rear fog lights on annoys me but I couldn't care less about front fog lights. Hyundai Excels seem to be a common offender here...

Its worse in towns. Like when you're parked up at the lights with a rear fog glaring down ya bonnet....Really painful!

My Missus calls them "CHAV - LIGHTS", nothing against Chav's when the fogs are switched off!!!. Although I actually used them last night on the A5 in Atherstone (with my Burberry cap on).
