    hello peeps, im running xp on the mrs laptop and when i go to type an address in the address bar, the drop down list of previous entries comes up. can i turn this off?and how do i do it? or am i right in thinking it was something i switched on when i had to red disc it?. i remember being asked if i want this menu when i first switched on mp desktop pc

    Not to sure if you can turn it off but you can clear he history. On firefox you just go to tools at top of page then "clear private date", not to sure how to do it on IE but prob the same.HTH

    In IE, click on Tools, then Options, you should then have the general tab showing. Make sure the Days to keep previous viewed pages are set to 0 and it should clear them.

    You visiting some dodgy sites then chunkster?!

    On IE, go to Tools>Internet Options and you'll see history section at the bottom of that window. Just click Clear History. I think if you then set the days setting to zero, it will stop remembering them.

    Edit: Darn it Tony - you posted as I was typing! lol

    On Firefox to clear them as rushy said - just make sure the Browsing History box is ticked and tick/untick the other options accordingly to clear or keep those. To stop it doing it go to Tools>Options then click on the Privacy icon at the top. You can then untick the option to remember visited pages.

    internet explorer go to ....tools ...options , content tab ....click the autocomplete button take tick out of web addresses that should do it .

    and the cigar goes to .........devilnev for the correct answer, Caterman and duncan, i knew about clearing the history but needed to lose the drop down lists, and NO Duncan, i havent been looking at anything i shouldnt have, (i save that for the desktop), the laptop is the mrs works pc so wanted to clear as much as i could and couldnt work it out!!
