Default Timing/Cambelt Belt Change On 2.0 DTi

hello folks, long time no speak, anyway our taxi Vectra is approaching 70K miles, 2005 54 plate, 2.0 DTi 16v engine, just wondered what interval the timing/cambelt is due to be changed at, when should it be done, costs, etc.

    cheers

    Greg

It doesn't have a cambelt. Chain cam engine and no need for change.

IIRC the chain's tension needs to be checked at 100k miles, worth checking though because I could be confused with a different car

TBH I wasn't aware of that but it may indeed be true. GSi 3.2 is the man to ask about that, if you PM him, he'll sort you out.

The tension is hydrailically adjusted throughout it's life using the pressure of the engine oil.. what they meany by inspecting it's tension is basically a link elongation check..I.E. how much more travel will the tensioner have left.. To be honest, if you've disassembled it far enough to view the chain, i'd whip another one on it.. not as cheap as a belt, but still realativley cheaper than a new engine..
