Dazza, i to have a 1.8 and did exactly what you want to do a couple of months ago, from single to twin exit on my '06 SRI. I painted (to match the car colour) and fitted a VXR rear diifuser to the standard SRI bumper. Fitted with no probs. I had a complete stainless steel system fitted but i could have had the twin exit made up from the rear axel back. The draw back was the dam noise, even with TWO silencers in the middle and the one on each side the tail pipes it was just such a din at cruising speeds in side the car ! So i had the standard exhaust fitted back on but with a larger chrome tip to fill the VXR diffuser and then a 'dummy' back box and tip on the right hand side. Now looks how i wanted it but is nice nad quiet inside. Dont get me wrong the stainless steel item sounded great outside and was a good job but at my age i just could'nt cope with noise inside the car. Know this answer is a bit long but hope it helps you in some way mate.

my 1.8 has full stainless steel system fitted (power flow) triple silencers ,centre and two rear, sweet noise outside , purr inside reaches a lovely howl at 4000rpm + when pushing through gears, cruising its hard noticeable.
Look on e-bay there is kits for what you are after.
