    Default Aftermarket Headunit

Quick question...when an aftermarket headunit is installed in a vectra C what is displayed on the in dash screen when no adapter is used? Is it just blank or does it display the date?

I know on the vectra b i had to cut a wire to make it display the date permanantly, is this still the case with the vectra c?

Its an LS so has no on board computer

    Thank you

The date will go out when you switch the radio on. Don't know if the Vectra has an amplifier in the aerial base, if not you could disconnect the wire for the electric aerial feed of your aftermarket radio as this was the wire in the car which would control the display.
Going from older Vauxhalls, don't know if would be the same for yours depending if your radio is on CAN bus or not..

its a 53 plate, which I believe means its not CAN bus. Has anyone done this does anyone know if it works?

    Cheers

Yeah, on the earlier Vauxhalls if you simply didn't connect the electric aerial wire (normally blue) the amp in the base of aerial wouldn't switch on & you get no radio. This is why you'd have to cut one of the two wires going into the back of the ISO plug. One wire controls the display, the other the aerial. Don't know if the Vec C works the same.

Sorry, I guess you would lose the radio information wouldn't you!!! That part will be blank but the date & time stays the same.
I'm going to go & hibernate now, I need sleep!
