Default Z20NET: How can you tell if the Recirc has been blanked off?

    Hey,

As the title says really. What would I be looking for? My car has a dump valve on it, and I really want it gone, but I need to know whether this has been blanked or not!

    TIA

stick you head down the back of the engine and look at the turbo where the airbox induction pipe connects to it, just below that on the compressor is the recirc valve and it its there you will have a hose coming off it to the actuator

btw some dump valves are recirculating, some fit in line elsewhere and some can be fitted directly to this aperture on the side of the turbo compressor housing. where is yours currently fitted?

    hi Nige,

Thanks for your replies. Mine is located at the front of the engine - off the boost pipe. I'll take a look in the morning/tomorrow evening to see if I can spot what you've mentioned.

the recirc/wastergate are internal on these turbos, but if you look for that it will tell you what you want to know..

see the pic below, its the round protruding part where vacuum pipe connects, just above the righthand corner of the paper. its held in with three bolts.

Right, I have been out to the car (I can go back out if this picture shows nothing)

Does this offer any further insight? Or do I need a picture from a different angle/position?

    TIA

Its not possible to see from that pic,I will need to see it from another angle perhaps from below. Btw you have a mitsubishi td04 turbo fitted to that engine, I ca'tn tell if its an 11t or a 14t though, part numbers for that are printed on a flat spot on the side of the compressor housing you see un the pic.

Thanks Nig, and thanks for the extra info, I wanted to know which turbo was on it too. is the turbo that's on it the one that people tend to swap out for a better one?

Since you said you needed a picture from underneath, i had another look and there's a piece of steel there that says 'forge' on it that looks to be attached to the part you were talking about, so I guess that means it's been blanked!
